UN says Mali ransom payment fueling al Qaeda-linked attacks @cgtnafrica

A UN report says an alleged $50 million ransom payment to al Qaeda-linked JNIM has helped finance new attacks, weapons purchases and the group’s wider operations. The report says part of the money was transferred to al Qaeda affiliates in Yemen and North Africa, as well as to senior leaders believed to be based in Afghanistan and elsewhere.
