The cross of life is a feature on ultra tax bill pallets that no other spill pallet on the market has. So what is it?
What we learned over the years is that when 55 gallon drums are placed on a spill pallet over time, that downward force, the weight of those drums pushing down. Will eventually cause the sidewalls of a spill pallet that does not have the cross of life to be pushed outward. And that can be a problem if it gets pushed out so far that the grates fall into the sump and the drums fall over.
So if you take a look at one of the Ultra-Spill Pallets that has the cross of life, you can see if you remove the grating, in that right-hand picture, you can see part of that cross that's expose. In this picture, the grates are completely removed, and now you can see exactly what I'm referring to when we talk about the cross of life. So now when there's a downward force with the weight of those drums, the sidewalls will actually be pulled inward, keeping the grates in place and making sure that those drums don't move. This feature is also available on some of our two drum models.
You can see here that there is that cross piece that's built into this sump. It's not a cross per se, but it still has that feature and it still will prevent those sidewalls from being pushed outward.
