On December 11, 2021, an EF-4 tornado devastated the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center (UKREC) at Princeton, destroying decades of research, state-of-the-art equipment, and a vital resource for Kentucky’s agricultural community.
But from the rubble emerged resilience and determination. Just one day after the storm, UKREC’s dedicated team was back at work, ensuring their critical research continued.
Three years later, the center has not only rebuilt but come back stronger. With 13 new buildings, including an advanced field research facility and a weather-resistant greenhouse, UKREC is leading the charge in agricultural innovation, sustainability, and community impact.
This inspiring story showcases the unwavering commitment of UKREC to Kentucky farmers, featuring state-of-the-art facilities and community-driven events like field days that bridge research with practical solutions.
As UKREC approaches its 100th anniversary in 2025, it remains a pillar of strength and innovation in the Commonwealth.
