One wrong step during a Jamaican beach vacation had unimaginable consequences for Del Taylor.

The small punctures he received from accidentally stepping on coral became a life-threatening infection leading to the loss of both of his legs. Following the surgery for his amputation, Del arrived at UHN's West Park Healthcare Centre to begin healing.

Working with physiatrists, physiotherapists, prosthetists, and a multi-disciplinary care team, he became determined not only to walk again, but to run, thrive, and explore again. Staff and fellow patients alike were inspired by his hard work, fierce determination and boundless optimism.

Follow Del's remarkable rehabilitation journey, from his double amputation, to being fitted for new prosthetic legs and taking his first steps, all the way to setting his new goal of returning to marathon running.
