NORWEGIAN EMPATHY SUMMED IN ONE EXPRESSION: UFF DA/UFFDA/HOOFDA. It covers everything from a little ouch to being completely overwhelmed. It can be used both in life, death and everyday situations. Mads will give Ronald different sentences, describing serious situations that can happen to us all. He will use a scale and try to explain if it’s a clear and obvious uff da, a borderline or absolutely not an uff da situation. Ronald’s learning tools are: candies, cardboard, facial expressions and body language. Mads will react shocked too, by Ronald’s sometimes cynical, cold and sarcastic analysis of how matters of life and death are dealt with in Norway. This video is a satiric portrait of Norwegians today. Our fears and insecurity, our working life, love life, and grocery life. It’s also about family relations, aging and the passing away of someone dear – and how living in a welfare system shapes our way of thinking. Finally, Mads delivers a sentence that really shocks and shakes Ronald in the foundations. The whole episode might make you want to cringe.
