In this video, U Do It Reviews the Holmes Air Purifier together with the EGR AER1 replacement air filters. I recently cleaned my office desk and computer. Both were loaded with a thick layer of dust. The manufacturer sent the EGR AER1 replacement filters to U Do It for review. So I purchased the Holmes Air Purifier HAP242B-U to facilitate the review of the filters but also to remove the dust from my office.
The Holmes Air Purifier comes with a primary screen filter to catch large dust particles and hair as well as a filter. You can begin using this product immediately. The air purifier fits on your desk and features three speeds and an air ionizer that can be toggled on and off with a switch.

I have been using the Holmes Air Purifier for one month on the low speed setting with the ionizer for over one month so far with the stock air filter. It is not enough time to determine if it is working. I will report back in six months.
The EGR AER1 replacement air filters contains four filters and eight pre-filters. These filters are compatible with the Holmes air purifier as demonstrated. It is challenging to get the carbon filters in position prior to installation. I am currently testing the stock air filter. Five months from now (6-months total) I will install an EGR AER1 air filter, which will mark the start of another 6-month test.
I am not convinced yet that the air purifier is working at this time. I need more time to determine if it is worth the purchase. If you need white noise from a fan, then I suggest purchasing this. It can only help, right? Not only will it provide white noise but it will also filter. How much it filters I am not sure.
I'm not certain about the air ionizer either as I have no way of determining if it is functioning as expected. I like to test things and know what is happening and in the case of the air ionizer I am not certain. I'll have to research how to test an ionizer.
