Kenny Easwaran

Kenny Easwaran, UCI associate professor of logic & philosophy of science, studies probability and decision theory. His work seeks to address how goals – whether made by humans, artificial intelligence or animals – are achieved in an uncertain world with numerous variables. His research, supported by the Canada Research Council, Mellon/American Council of Learned Societies, and institutional fellowships, has been published in more than 25 articles in top journals including The Philosophical Review, Noûs, and others.
Easwaran earned his bachelor’s in mathematics, music and philosophy at Stanford University and his Ph.D. in logic and the methodology of science at UC Berkeley. His move to UCI follows 15 years of combined professorial posts at USC and Texas A&M University, both in the Department of Philosophy. He also did a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Research School of Social Sciences at Australian National University. He’s excited to join UCI’s Department of Logic & Philosophy of Science which is considered one of the strongest departments in the field.
