The USAF and USN used the UC1583 PAL Controller on nuclear weapons to perform all Permissive Action Link (PAL) operations on nuclear weapons. It utilized a commercial laptop computer and special “Weapon Interface Unit" (WIU) software. It came into use in the early 1990s. Filmed at the US national atomic museum at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque NM USA in 2010.
