As we shine the light on women this month, on their contributions and how they have and continue to shape histories, on how they mold the present and influence our futures in remarkable ways, let us remember the women who are fighting battles where they find themselves. These are women who will not be given a microphone behind the high walls of academic institutions, they will not feature in conferences on women’s struggles, they will not be keynote speakers at colloquiums, they will not make the national news or any news at all. These are our comrades, our sisters, our aunts, our mothers, and grandmothers. We honour them by archiving their daily lived experiences and struggles, as narrated by them and we salute their acts of resistance wherever they find themselves.

Today we honour Nomzamo Zondo, Executive Director at The Socio-Economic Rights Institute of South Africa (SERI).
