(Doom II) Ambrosia - Map04: Sleeping With Your Enemy (UV-Max) brendondle 2025-05-07 | no escapeno commentary for this one, sorry. i honestly really like the idea of letting the gameplay in my hardest demos speak for itself. there wouldnt even be much to commentate anyways, 90% of the map is either platforming or sitting in a corner so oh well i supposethis map is way, WAY harder than it looks btw. this is really the type of map you have to play for yourself to really understandthis grind started off really unfun with like a 2/10 enjoyment but actually started to really grow on me towards the end. kinetic said he was going for a kaizo doom feel for this map, and i think he absolutely fucking nailed it. every part of the map feels so aggressive and almost trollish. i cant help but respect when a mapper achieves what they were going for, especially when its done as well as this. also he picked quite literally the best possible music choice for this map. this is easily going in my list of "if this track were used in any other map from now on it would feel weird since its so heavily associated with this map" songs. locking in practice for the platforming and becoming a lot more consistent at that really boosted my enjoyment as well btwi would say the only part i still genuinely just dont like is the cyber right before the blue key (which me and hebonky named him kyle, fuck you kyle) since hes just an rng check and if you have low health going into the plasma marine fight you are extremely likely to dieits a little sad that the maze is the way it is since while playing its super tense, but from an outsiders perspective its almost boring to watch. im sorry that it takes so long, especially at the very end of it since i didnt want to take any chances and just used safe strats. i do recommend watching through the maze since theres a few spicy moments but if you skip it i understand loli thought that i never maxed maps to experience pain, but kinetic said that to run this map you have to be a true masochist. perhaps i am one after all308 attemptsPlacement on the Doomed Index: #18 (Elite, though this is going to be moved to Jaded + not top 30 worthy because of cheese)My Placement on the Doomed Index: ~#13-#17 (Elite, cheeseless)Enjoyment: 6/10WAD: ambrosia.wadSourceport: dsdadoom v0.29.0Complevel: 9 (Boom)Get the WAD: doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/a-c/ambrosiaTwitch: twitch.tv/brendondleDiscord: discord.gg/JTrhmp5mBW

(Doom II) Eviternity 2 - Map28: Afterimage (Blind UV-Max) brendondle 2024-01-16 | saying this map wasnt fun mightve been a stretch, but i do hate how the astral cacos are used00:00 Blind Run21:51 Successful Run36:12 Outtakenot gonna link the run with saves since its basically just 4 minutes of me complaining about my death, you wouldnt be missing much anyways since i basically experienced everything the map had to offeredit: i played the map again, except i was much more confrontational and i didnt use the bfg. i can now give a more accurate description of my thoughts on this map. if you play a lot more confrontationally, the fights are actually pretty fun. admittedly, the use of the astral cacos still sucks ass because theyre basically spammed after the blue key (which is a slog to deal with) and during the yellow key fight, but they actually apply a decent bit of pressure during the yellow key fight so thats ok. my one question is: why not lock in the player? my playstyle when playing blind and saveless is to usually play as safe as i can, minimize the risk of dying, so i ran from a lot of these fights. this made the fights super unfun and boring, so locking in the player would benefit the map so much imo, especially with the yellow key fightthe main problem i have now is that the finale is balls hard if you do it the (seemingly) intended way of fighting everything in the trench. without bfg its fucking stupid, since the necromenace keeps resurrecting everything from high up. so you would just target him, right? wrong. if you spam plasma at him from below you would have to deal with the nightmare and astral cacos along with all the other shit, who if you kill them would keep getting resurrected. these guys both tear you to shreds super quickly (especially the nightmare cacos) plus eat your autoaim. if you go up to try and kill the necromenace, he just fucks you up with his heavy-hitting projectiles. the only way to deal with the fight without bfg is to go to another area so no corpses can get resurrected, then kill the necromenace. its a shitty way to deal with the fight and a shitty design for the fight. rest of the map is cool thoughthanks for coming to my tedtalkWAD: Eviternity II RC5.wadSourceport: dsdadoom v0.27.5Complevel: 21 (MBF21)All kills and secrets, no saves, no cheats, pistol start, and blind.Get the WAD: eviternity.dfdoom.comTwitch: twitch.tv/brendondleDiscord: discord.gg/6ffQATMDV4Thank you for watching!

(Doom II) Eviternity 2 - Map33: Catalyst (Blind UV-Max) brendondle 2023-12-31 | a few things.1) i feel like this just shouldnt have happened at all. i lucked out so fucking hard its insane. i basically just held s whenever i felt like it was getting tight and it somehow worked. im undeniable impressed with myself that i managed to do it that quickly, and the preview of what the map had while i was dead definitely helped, but i feel like this was just a massive fluke with little to no skill involved. also i timed it and the explosions reach the end by around 3:10, and i had gotten there at 3:08, so i had made it just by a hair2) this was a MASSIVE overreaction. when i was dead and able to see what the rest of the map had, it looked WAY harder than it really was. this is why i freaked out so fucking much (which i hope is more of a funny reaction to you guys than it is cringe for me to watch lol). i played this map a bit after recording and even did some demo attempts, and this map is actually really consistent. i managed to get 5 exits in about only 8 or 9 attempts total. i dont know if its maybe my experience with doom movement that makes this really not that hard, but idk3) i cannot overstate how much i love this gimmick. its something ive never seen before in doom, and even though i know its very similar to something from battletoads (ive never played it though, so i wouldnt know) it also kind of reminds me of subway surfers LMAO dont judge me. and also jimmy's midi is the icing on top. easily my new favorite jimmy midi, and one of my new all-time favorite midisWAD: Eviternity II RC5.wadSourceport: dsdadoom v0.27.5Complevel: 21 (MBF21)All kills and secrets, no saves, no cheats, pistol start, and blind.Get the WAD: eviternity.dfdoom.comTwitch: twitch.tv/brendondleDiscord: discord.gg/6ffQATMDV4Thank you for watching!
