Making my Gown for the Grand Ball at Versailles || Sewing a Robe a la Francaise from the 1760s Sewstine 2023-06-25 | Once a year at Versailles, they throw a ball called the "Fetes Galantes". This year, for the ball, I wanted to make a truly epic gown. In this video, I describe the different steps it takes to make a gown, including information from what I learned studying other gowns I got to study personally at museums. I tried to be as historically accurate as possible, other than my liberal use of sewing machines to sew things that will not be seen on the finished gown.
