In recognition of a $25-million gift from Myron and Berna Garron to the University of Toronto, the new state-of-the-art facility housing the Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH) will be named in their honour. Starting in 2026, SAMIH will train physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and physiotherapists in a region facing a critical shortage of health-care professionals.
The gift will contribute significantly to the construction of the building at U of T Scarborough. It will also support teaching at SAMIH and collaborations with regional health-care partners.
