Stranger Things | Forest Fire xxBlackLolitarose 2022-09-07 | Man, do I love the characters in this show. From Eddie "the hero" Munson to El, one of the most iconic female characters ever. These characters are courageous, funny, and heartbreaking. Their relationships are powerful. And they comprise the best team I've seen since Agents of Shield. I love them and this show, and I've wanted to make a video for these characters for a long time.I couldn't include everyone but I put a spotlight on the characters with journeys I wanted to explore, especially after season 4. Before this season I never would have expected to put Max as a central character in a video or a brand new character like Eddie. I tend to be biased against new characters since they steal screen time from my old favorites. But the Duffers have delivered a master class on writing with Eddie Munson. He had one of the best character introductions I've ever seen. After two simple scenes, the Duffer's made me love Eddie, which has to set some kind of record. And now the entire world loves him! That's fantastic writing my friends, along with some phenomenal acting from Joseph Quinn.But of course, my most beloved characters are still Eleven, Mike, and Hopper. (And Dustin. And STEVE! But he didn't have a huge role this season. Can we get a Steve storyline please that doesn't revolve around Nancy?) In particular, Hopper's journey back to El was something I wanted to put to video ever since season 3. (Let it be known, Season 3 was a masterpiece of a season and I only wish I'd had the right song to make a video for it. But it was not meant to be.)Season 5, here we come. I'm going to dread saying goodbye to this show, but by this point, the Duffers have given me a lot of confidence that they can do the final season justice. Their season finales put all others to shame. Let's hope they pull it off. Come on Duffers, you're one season away from having the greatest TV series of all time! Finish it right!One more thing: Max's big scene is easily the best moment this season (everyone knows it), but a close second might be El and Mike's argument in episode 3. That scene broke me, to see them facing more grown-up problems, problems that make total sense for them to have. It hurt but it was amazing. And some of the best acting I've seen from either of them. If you haven't seen BBC's War and Peace mini series I HIGHLY recommend. Might be my favorite regency era piece since Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly.The basic story: Pierre gets tricked into marrying an awful woman who doesn't love him. After he sees Natasha, a family friend, falling for his best friend, he realizes he's in love with the girl he's known his whole life, but being the pure soul that he is, he supports his friend and steps aside. But life in Russia gets turned upside down by war and when the dust settles Pierre and Natasha might just end up together. It's a long road to get there but it's so great along the way with a truly satisfying ending.Pierre is so amazing and I adore him. He is the sweetest boy who is taken advantage of by everyone and all you want is for him to be happy in the end. And Natasha is such a lovely girl who grows into a mature woman deserving of Pierre's pure love for her. It's such a beautiful romance. These two genuinely respect and love each other. And my gosh, Pierre is such husband material.But the real reason I had to make a vid is that I became obsessed with Paul Dano. I saw The Batman and finally realized how much I love him. (Yes, sweet Pierre also plays the Riddler.) He was so intense in that movie, I had to see more of him.So I did. I saw a LOT more. Did a deep dive of his films and I've watched 18 of his projects now and can attest that he's a master at what he does. He's played guys with mental struggles, guys who are too pure for this world, and total psychos. An awe-inspiring viewing experience2. A new favorite actorFirst, the viewing experience. I knew that this film was a one-shot film. I knew the general premise. I thought I knew what I was getting myself into. I thought it was going to be an enjoyable film, maybe even a great one. But I had no idea what I was really walking into.Once in a while, I'll see a film that completely interrupts my thoughts, that takes over my senses, that glues me to the screen. It's even rarer that I find a film that binds me to the characters so intensely. This movie was visceral, spell-binding, and more than that, it was an emotional journey of the most powerful kind.Not only because of the striking cinematography, the tension, the perfect pacing, the blast of bullets and swell of the score, but because of the characters. Within the first five minutes, watching Blake learn about the danger his brother was facing, I attached to him in a way I don't often do with movie characters. I could feel Blake's stress, his urgency, his love for his brother, and I'd only just learned his name.But as attached as I felt to Blake, it had nothing on my attachment to Schofield. Which brings me to the second thing this movie gave me.George MacKay's performance as Schofield is one of the most beautiful, heart-wrenching performances I've ever seen. My gosh did I love Schofield. I connected with him so strongly. I knew his thoughts, feelings, felt his resilience, his almost manic need to press on. I didn't need to know his first name or where he was from or what his past was like, I simply knew him exactly as I was meant to. Not only was the writing incredible but George MacKay was Schofield through and through. I'd never seen this actor before but I knew I was witnessing something very special (and in my opinion, a performance deserving of an Oscar for Best Actor or at least a nomination, but that's a rant for another day.)Little did I know that George MacKay is no beginner. He's a brilliant young actor with an incredible history of films. While 1917 is his best, it wasn't until I dove into his old works that I realized I'd found my favorite actor. For Those in Peril. Where Hands Touch. Marrowbone. These are just a few of his excellent films. He has incredible range, he portrays his emotions as loudly or as quietly as he needs, he can do any accent (no really) and he's just so incredibly fun to watch. No matter what he stars in, I can connect to his characters on an emotional level. He's always different, always unexpected. And no two characters of his are the same. Going back to the film, I can't stress enough how much this film affected me. It was almost perfect. And I don't say that lightly. Everything was so seamless. The sound, the realistic sets and costumes, the story, the pacing, the Roger Deakins cinematography, the acting. You forget you're watching a movie the moment it begins.If there is such a thing as a perfect movie I'm pretty sure it's 1917.I'm grateful to 1917 for giving me an unforgettable experience and a favorite actor to continue watching from here on out. This has been one of the best movie experiences I've had in years. If you haven't watched it I 100% recommend!It's an anime about a boy named Kageyama Shigeo AKA "Mob" who is the most normal, average middle schooler you could imagine. Except that he's an esper with psychic powers. Usually, he can control his powers just fine, but when his emotions rise too high, he might get to "100%" and his true powers will activate. Oh he's also the sweetest most precious child who doesn't want to hurt anyone even though he's the strongest guy in the room. This is such a good character-driven anime and a total subversion of shonen tropes. And sorry One Punch Man, but this is One's finest work. Short AMV. I lost inspiration. My Love | Armin Arlert xxBlackLolitarose 2019-10-16 | A person who cannot sacrifice everythingwon’t be able to change anything.Contains Seasons 1-3B________________________________________________________________________________________Armin is my favorite character in Attack on Titan. And considering that AoT is my favorite anime, that makes him one of my favorite anime characters ever. So you can imagine what an insane experience episode 55 was for me.I am not a manga reader and had very little idea of what I was walking into. Thank goodness I watched 54 and 55 back to back or I would have had a terrible week. After 54, I really thought Armin was dead. And considering how he went out, I was almost ready to accept it. Then episode 55 threw everything into the air. Not only did it give me hope, it was layering on the emotion so heavily and reminding me how freaking amazing Armin is, so if he DID die it was going to be the worst character death ever. I had no idea if Armin was going to live in the end, because I really believed Isayama is that mean. Erwin is so important to the cause, I thought they might revive him, and so I was panicking the whole episode. It was one of the tensest episodes of anything I’ve ever seen and one of the best episodes AoT has ever done. Seriously, this one is going in the anime hall of fame for me.My gosh, I wanted to lie down and cry for an hour once it ended. The emotions were crazy high, and there are few episodes I’ve ever seen like it. And it only made me love and need Armin so much more. He’s such an amazing character and every season I’m constantly going “we need more Armin”. And I hope we get plenty of him next time. Sorry Eren, for me Armin is the MVP. So I’ve always wanted to make an Armin video and that episode pushed me to do it. This was a lot of fun to make too. I wanted to illustrate Armn’s character arc and why I love him so much. He’s the weakest of them, but is still willing to go into the most dangerous places imaginable. He’s the bravest person in the show. A genius with words and strategy. And he has become a capable soldier and leader. I seriously want to see Armin lead the Recon Corps someday because I feel like they’ve put him on track for it.*sigh* I just love Armin and I want him to live to the end so much. (And I can’t believe he only has 13 or so years to live, that is just… I’m still bitter over that.)But my gosh, he’s the colossal titan now and I am so ready for it! It’s gonna be weird but finally Armin will have a major physical ability like the others. YAS. But I still hope we see him strategizing and leading cuz I’m starting to believe that’s his true purpose.Side note: I really want to make a character video for Eren too but I know I won’t get around to it. T__T Eren’s character arc is just…wow. I don’t totally understand what’s happening, but as a writer, I’m fascinated. So glad I made it in time!This is my first real tribute to Sora, Riku, and Kairi, my favorite trio of Kingdom Hearts. I should’ve made this a long time ago!There’s nothing that hits me in the feels quite as hard as their story line. I love these three so much and they have had such a journey since the start of KH1. It feels right to make a tribute to their original story line, the one we’ve been watching for years, right before the new chapter of their story is released. I have no idea what’s going to happen with these three in KH3. I can only hope it lives up to parts one and two. And even if it doesn’t, what we have already is one of the best trio stories in the world. The wayfinder trio has epic moments and the seasalt trio is full of beautiful tragedy, but for me the paopu trio always comes out on top. As I type this I’m waiting for gamestop to open so I can go buy Kingdom Hearts 3. It has been an amazing wait throughout 2018. I finally played Birth by Sleep and gained a new favorite in Aqua, then played Dream Drop Distance and finally discovered how much I truly love Riku. I can not describe how ready I am and how hyped. KH3 has been like a fairy tale my whole life, something to dream about that might never be made real. I’m not sure it’s possible to live up to thirteen years of expectation. But no matter what, there are things coming in this game that I’m not expecting, and that is one of the most exciting things of all. I’m not sure what’s waiting on the other side of this game’s release, but guys, we made it and no matter what, we’re going to have fun. This moment reminds me of Kairi and Sora looking out at the ocean and dreaming of what lay beyond.“I just can’t wait. Once we set sail, it’ll be great.”

These are two things that don’t usually mix with me. My live action videos tend to be very simple and use few effects. This time I tried something different! Granted, the effects in this video are simple but that’s what I was going for. Something stripped down yet intense.Stranger Things season 2 was AWESOME. One of the best parts of 2017 for me (minus the Japan trip and the Imagine Dragons concert and…wow I did a lot in 2017.)But every episode of this season I was jumping up and down in my seat, fangirling, and freaking out at every crazy Will moment or Mike/Eleven moment or really anything with the Mind Flayer. What an awesome sequel this was. And an awesome season deserves an awesome video! In my first Stranger Things video I went for a quiet, yet strange vibe that I felt summed up season 1 nicely. But I needed an epic video for this show and Season 2 gave me all the tools I needed. I'm very happy with how this turned out!The main focus of this video is Will, Eleven, and Mike. Because I had to have Mike/Eleven in there, but let’s face it, Will was the star of this show. And he killed it.Also a shout out to Steve’s character arc, that I didn’t get to fit in here. Of the various series I’ve read or watched that centers on a character’s daily life, this series stands out. Most of the story takes place at home instead of at school (which I prefer) and entire chapters can be about the romantic moments that happen during breakfast, while going out to dinner, or taking a trip to the supermarket. Sound boring? If it was any other writer it would be.Mika Sensei frames her whole story around the exchanges between her two main characters. Technically there isn’t much story going on, but there doesn’t need to be. Every moment feels authentic, and Fumi’s innocent but overflowing feelings give extra power to her interactions with Sensei. Also, unlike a lot of shoujo that can grow annoying, there are developments that happen in the relationship and it doesn’t take forty chapters for the main girl to figure out her feelings. It’s well-paced and there’s always a new pairing moment around the corner. Even if it was a chapter about shopping for rice, I was dying to see what would happen next. (It shows how awesome Mika Sensei is that she can extend a shopping trip for rice into two chapters and make it one of my favorite parts of the series.)I also have to include that TCLP was the first manga I read since I took my trip to Japan. Not only did the streets, houses, and Fumi’s life in the suburbs look exactly like what I saw in Japan, in the middle of the series they go to the Inari Shrine in Kyoto, one of the places I visited, and it looked the same in the manga as it does in real life. Realism is a constant theme with this manga. I easily fell in love with this series and the adorable romance it presents. I love how down to earth the characters are and Fumi manages to be innocent but still mature, similar to Suzume in HnR. And I can’t leave out one of the best parts: Akatsuki Sensei. Such a great, nuanced male lead. He’s reclusive and super introverted which makes it that much harder for him to form relationships. And he is seriously hot. I don’t want to be THAT girl, but the way Mika draws Sensei is ridiculously sexy and there’s no other way to put it. And Mika does it on purpose. The characters can be having a simple conversation and yet Sensei is drawn in such a sensual way it adds sexual tension to everything. Yet the manga is PG. Because Yamamori Mika is a PRO. If you’re looking for a new romance, I highly recommend this manga. Be warned: It isn’t completed yet and chapter releases can be slow. It’s worth it though. Note: I am still confused about Sensei’s name. After double checking I *believe* Akatsuki is his first name and Kibikino is his last. This still makes no sense to me since multiple people call him Akatsuki and no one EVER calls him Kibikino, but according the the Wiki page and the Japanese spelling of his name, Akatsuki is his first name. I am fascinated that Sensei is okay with people calling him by his first name and if anyone can help me figure this out, please leave a comment. What drew me at first was the use of a deaf character, something I have never seen an anime do before. Before I watched the movie I looked up reviews to see what people thought of her portrayal. After all, anime has a tendency to over dramatize things and do away with any realism. I was half expecting Shoko to never sign and just smile at people. But when I learned that she was done realistically, I was excited to watch the movie and see for myself. I didn’t expect a movie on suicide and depression! That aspect of the movie totally blew me away. I mean, this is anime we’re talking about. Even in the more realistic dramas, mental health and disabilities are shoved under the rug or portrayed in a way that doesn’t reflect reality whatsoever. It’s rare to find an anime that tackles even one important issue. (They’re usually too busy with cultural festivals and the supernatural.) But to find an anime that tackles not one but three!? WOW.I was fascinated to get a glimpse at Shoko’s experience (and it’s probably not completely accurate but as this is a well-done, well-researched story, I’m going to assume it’s not far from a deaf person’s experience in Japan). Growing up in the American school system, I was shocked that Shoko not only didn’t have an interpreter, but that her teacher didn’t seem to care about her disability. (Again, could be dramatized, but I’m also going to assume it carries a grain of truth.) Then there’s Shoya. Shoya’s part was actually the best in my opinion. The way they dealt with his social anxiety, his depression, his desire for human contact as well as his fear of it, resulting in his near-suicide. Amazing. I’ve seen enough anime to know you don’t find a story like this every day. It’s one of the most well done stories on mental illness I’ve ever seen in an anime. Honestly, A Silent Voice represents my favorite side of anime – that it isn’t all swords and fights and supernatural elements. Anime can be just as much about real life. This story reminds you to really listen to people, to remember that everyone is hurting in some way. Not only was this anime beautiful, the ending scene (or rather, climax) was incredible and I will remember it for a long time. It’s almost up there with Anohana’s ending scene.I just started listening to Aurora and I really love her, so I used one of her songs for this video. It actually worked out – if I didn’t have a new artist I was excited about, this video would never have been finished. And I tried using camera effects like the cool kids do these days. Oh, and Arima Kosei is an awesome protagonist and his character arc was a joy to watch. And I respect the creators of this anime for the work they put into his piano scenes. They were the best scenes in the show and I never wanted them to end. Also, leave it to an anime to have a great romance but interrupt it with love triangles. And death. It should be everyone’s favorite manga. ;) Any time I see a pairing handled badly or not given the screen time they deserve, I think “why can’t more things be like Dengeki Daisy?” (Looking at you Agents of Shield.) I swear, this is the perfect picture of what a great romance manga/novel should be. Amazing characters. Pairing moments that feel natural but never stop coming. Plot that doesn’t revolve around the two main characters getting together. ZERO LOVE TRIANGLES. If there’s another manga like this one, I haven’t found it. But I don’t need to, this one here is the best. ;)This video is sooo long in coming. I’ve been wanting to make a Teru and Kurosaki video for a long time but the inspiration never hit. I always planned to use this song for them and I’m so glad I got to! Now that I’ve started editing with them I don’t want to stop. If you’re tired of shoujo manga that all looks the same, please read Dengeki Daisy. Where else can you find two characters who go through struggles, make up, and support each other’s weaknesses like real couples are supposed to do? I wish it were more common in manga.And I love this manga’s tone. It’s so real but without being dark or R-rated. It also manages to have a pretty action-packed story and great comedy without overdoing it. It’s balanced on all fronts. And Teru and Kurosaki are the two best romance leads of just about anything. Teru is a strong individual who makes mistakes and really learns from them. And Kurosaki is such a GUY, not some sappy popular boy with perfect hair. (Well, he does have perfect hair though. And when I finally did I found myself shipping these two instantly! Enough to get me to go read most of the manga, which gets DARK but very cannon. This anime is actually very good (albeit dark at times). Fumoffu, the middle season of the anime, is the best part if you ask me. I wish the whole anime was a hilarious romcom. I’ve watched Fumoffu like five times and it’s one of the most hilarious anime seasons I’ve ever seen. (You can even watch it without ever having watched the first season. The English dub is SO FUNNY.)This was a fun edit I made after I started shipping these two one summer (It's over a year old.) It’s nothing fancy but a good excuse to use this song, which I’ve wanted to edit with for years.Chances are, anyone watching this knows what Full Metal Panic is, but if you didn’t know, that’s the name of a popular anime from around 2003(?) back in the decade when anime was good. (*shots fired*)It follows the mishaps of Sargent Sousuke Sagara, a teenage soldier who starts going to high school so he can act as a secret bodyguard to Kaname Chidori, a girl who’s been targeted by an evil organization. Kaname doesn’t know he’s in the military, she just thinks he’s a crazy army fanboy who’s following her around. And the hilarity ensues. (And then it gets very serious from time to time.) It’s an anime with three seasons, so a good length. It also has meccas and a main girl who actually has a brain in her head. (Shocking!) I actually love the english dub for this show. It features Luci Christian and Chris Patton who I’ve realized are two of my favorite english voice actors. (Luci Christian is one of the best you will find in English dubbing.) Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy. You guys will ALWAYS be the best, with the greatest editors I've ever seen. That is the community where my strongest memories are, where I learned what video editing was all about. There are still videos out there I could never recreate myself because of the skill with which they were made.But I've come so far with my channel and I'm so happy with the videos I've done! Grant Ward | Do you understand now? xxBlackLolitarose 2016-10-18 | Good morning, myselfIt's been a while since we have talked____Because I have always loved Ward and I’m so sad he’s gone. Without him this show is missing a piece of its identity. Say what you want about Ward, he was a wonderfully written character and a very fun antagonist. I loved him as the hero in season 1 and loved him as the bad guy in the later seasons (except for when he was a little TOO bad.) But it’s really a testament to how much I appreciate Ward, when he can torture my two favorite characters in the world (a moment I hated btw) and yet I still love him. To me, he’s just that impressive. And it isn’t all about the writers – Brett Delton gets a lot of the praise too. Oh yeah, and losing Brett Dalton has been as hard as losing Ward for me. I miss him and his presence in the cast so much! Things aren’t right without him.Ah, Ward. Our dog-loving, fitzsimmons-shipping, skye-stalking antagonist and one of the most controversial characters I’ve seen within a show. I really wish he could have gone out even bigger, maybe stuck around as the antagonist for another year. And now we have a guy who drives a car. (….No comment.)So here’s one of my few Shield character videos. There’s a special emphasis on Ward and his most important relationships – to Coulson, to Skye, to Fitz. The Fitz and Ward is in there as much as I could get it because Brotp 4ever T---T. And they have some of the best scenes. I hope this video reflects who Ward was. The older brother, the man without direction, the survivor, and the character who gave into his darkness. While I don’t like all the directions they took him in (and thought some were unfair and inconsistent), I think the darkness around his character arc shows how important it is to turn back before it’s too late.Three cheers for Ward, one of the most significant parts of Shield. Stranger Things Dead hearts are everywhere. xxBlackLolitarose 2016-09-03 | Warning: this video contains flashes. This show is AMAZING. I have never seen anything quite like it. It’s more like a very long movie than a tv show. It has such great characters, great story, a great little pairing, a unique tone, wonderful background music, beautiful cinematography, just. everything. I love it and I will be waiting impatiently for season two!!I love the kids. They are my absolute favorite part of the show. I love Eleven! And Mike! And Dustin is hilarious and Lucas is so sarcastic. They have quickly become one of my favorite teams. #SquadGoals!(And Will too, the poor dear.) But I love everyone else in the show too (except maybe Nancy and Steve hehe. But they’re alright.) And I love the music! I don’t even like synth but I love the music. I basically love everything. And I’m shipping Mike and Eleven so hard right now, they are the cutest thing. And they have some great deep moments as well, that’s what really sold me. The only thing I don’t love is the video quality of the episodes I downloaded! Gah! I did my best but this is what I’m stuck with.So the finale is what inspired me to make this video. One of the best finales I’ve seen in a long, long time! But while I was crying at the climax, in the back of my head I was thinking “Why did they have to make it flash so much!? I can’t edit that!!!” And I know I wasn’t the only one! I get the aesthetic reasons for the flashes but man, I gave up trying to make it look good. So that’s why there is a seizure warning on this video and I hope the creators gave a seizure warning somewhere because this show really flashes a lot more than usual. I finally got to use this song again! I edited with Dead Hearts years ago and had so much fun. I’ve always wanted to edit to it again and Stranger Things gave me the perfect opportunity. This hopefully won’t be the last video I make for Stranger Things. (Btw I finished the manga like ten years late compared to the rest of the world.) But FB is one of my two favorite mangas in the world and I’ve loved it for years! I’ve finally finished it and I’m sad but also happy about what a wonderful series it was. If all mangaka were like Natsuki Takaya, the world of manga would be an amazing place. (I’ll gush about the series in a minute, but first-)So why Momiji and Tohru? Absolutely no reason. They’re not my favorite pairing in the series. Kyo and Tohru are my fave, Haru and Rin are probably my second. Yet here I am, making a Momiji x Tohru video! The feelings for these two just sort of swept over me. I’ve always loved their friendship and then got super excited when Momiji started having romantic feelings for her. Suddenly he’s watching her from across the hall – and it came (a little) out of nowhere! And then I was so sad when he never even told her his feelings.But also, for some reason I love to edit with the overlooked pairings, even if they’re not my top favorite.So here is my little Momiji/Tohru video that has been waiting to get uploaded for months! It’s not my greatest work, but I’m glad I got to use this song, and I’m happy to add another FB video to my collection.Now let me gush about Fruits Basket.I finished the series after collecting it slowly for about 7 years. I’ve known this series even longer than that though – I was introduced to it through the anime about 9 years ago! I’ve loved it ever since and it’s always been one of my top anime/manga. I’ve read a fair amount of shojo manga and seen even more animes, but this series is truly spectacular. It stands out among its peers, completely unique. It has over 16 characters and each one is deep, has backstory, and a character arc. It lies within the romance genre, yet it has a full plotline that has nothing to do with romance. It’s a school story, yet very little of the story takes place at school. Its main character is shy and quiet, yet she is one of the strongest characters I’ve gotten to read about. Everything about this manga is atypical. On top of that, it has a clear beginning, middle, and end. That’s pretty special for a manga that is over 20 volumes. And have I mentioned the end is AMAZING? This manga is the one all manga should try to be like, in my opinion. It’s a required read for anyone who reads shojo manga. I’m happy to say this will not be my last Fruits Basket video! I have another short one waiting to be uploaded and hopefully it won’t take me months. Somewhere Only We Know | Philinda xxBlackLolitarose 2016-04-26 | If you haven’t noticed, I make a lot of FitzSimmons videos (lol). But they aren’t the only pairing I love in Shield. I also love Philinda! I have since season 1 and I always wait eagerly for them to have moments. Then I’m disappointed when they don’t have any, but that’s beside the point. I’m a true believer in their pairing and I think they should be together in the end. Even though the showrunners clearly differ in that opinion, couldn’t they realize the error of their ways? I felt like they pushed Philinda in season 1 and 2, and I was starting to get hopeful that they would happen. And then they had to switch things up with Andrew. And Roz. Just – why? But I’m still going to have hope that FitzSimmons aren’t the ONLY best friends who can fall in love. And I think the best way for them to be happy in the life they’ve chosen is to be together. Coulson and May are best friends, they work together, they care deeply about each other, they’re both single… It’s obvious to me what needs to happen, what’s needed to happen since season 1 and I’m going to keep shouting for them to get together, even if I’m shouting alone. I’ve wanted to make a video for these two for a long time and finally it’s happened. I actually started this the month before season 3 came on. It took me a while, plus I was uninspired by the new developments with Andrew and Roz, AND season 3 has like no moments. I think it took them four episodes just to get a scene together? What? So this video has taken a while but I’m satisfied with the end product. When I first heard this song (which was surprisingly only a few months before I made this) I immediately thought of them and knew I had to use the song for a philinda video. This song goes with them perfectly! And finding moments to use may have been more challenging than with fitzsimmons, but still not that hard, because they have a lot of moments. (again, can they please get together already?)Lol I did most of the video before season 3 began and then took a long break. When I went back to finish it I was worried I would have a lot of season 3 stuff that I left out. But nope. There’s like four scenes in season 3. We can do better guys.Random note:Philinda is particularly special to me because (besides being my second favorite Shield pairing), they’re also the oldest pairing I’ve ever shipped like this. I’m a young person, so I naturally gravitate towards pairings that are in their 30s or younger. Sure, there’s been older pairings I’ve liked before, but I could never get invested in them, and I just thought it was because I was too young to identify with someone much older. Well, Philinda has shown me that if the characters are awesome, it really doesn’t matter what their age is. They are in their 50s and I LOVE them, and I actually love them more for their age and because they’re an unusual pairing for me. And the ideal ending for these two is to end up together. Can we talk about Season two? Because it was amazing. Dark at all times, full of mystery and alien forces, foreshadowing paying off in explosive ways, family moments everywhere, Skye’s transformation, FitzSimmons killing every scene and proving they are the emotional core of the show, Lance Hunter (sassy and british), Skye being non-stop awesome, Coulson taking dark turns (but still being Dad), Philinda love, Ward going through grey areas, Inhumans, Bobbi kicking butt, Iain’s acting and Fitz’s transformation, big brother Mack, the special effects department killing it, hilarious Cal Johnson, annnnd I’m probably missing some things but yep, that about sums up season two. (of course for me it was mostly fitzsimmons pain to fitzsimmons happiness back to pain again.) But only a fraction of that awesomeness is in this video. It’s too bad, I wanted to fit it all but I couldn’t. And now we’re on to season 3 and no one’s talking about season 2 anymore! But I’m not going to forget season 2 and how it was the best season of TV ever! yes that’s right. ;D It’s been waaay too long since I’ve made a video about the whole team! I actually titled this file "dark blue FINALLY" because of how long this has been in the works. I'm pretty sure I started this two summers ago! And then the project fell into the dark. And I revived it every once in a while to finish it and now it's finally done! I always wanted to make a big, pretty, AnoHana video and yay, I have. AnoHana is one of my favorite animes and so I'm glad I got to make enough videos for it - I even downloaded hq episodes for this one.But this is going to be the last AnoHana video I ever do. It's Bryan Fuller at his best, with its quirky storylines and rapid-fire dialogue. If you like unique TV, this is one to add to your list. And Ned and Chuck are the cutest! They can't physically touch but it doesn't keep them apart. They were definitely my favorite part of the show and I had fun shipping them. (Although I was constantly asking: why doesn't she just wear gloves??) I had to make a fun video for Pushing Daisies. With effects! I never use effects anymore! I felt more distanced from these two than I’ve ever felt and it was not fun. I thought it would be a long time before I could get genuinely excited for them again. Well, as usual, these two exceed my expectations. Because even though what the writers did was a stupid, cruel thing, and even though it brought these two down, it took only two episodes for them to completely rise back up. I was very afraid the writers were going to increase the distance and make Jemma’s feelings uncertain. But then in 3x08 she gave Fitz what can only be interpreted as a confession. And when Fitz asked her if she meant it, she said yes, without any hesitation. What I’ve interpreted from that is this show isn’t going down the path of the love triangle. There is not going to be a love triangle, at least not in the traditional sense, because it’s pretty much certain that Jemma has chosen Fitz from the start and is continuing to choose him. One stupid situation in space is not going to come between these two.So I was elated after 3x07 when this all came about, and this is a video to celebrate the fact that after all this time, these two are still here. The time has only made them stronger. Also, I just really wanted to document these first episodes of season 3 and what’s been happening and how difficult it’s been for FitzSimmons and for the viewers. I had feels to get out, so this was pretty hastily thrown together. But I enjoyed it a lot and while I don’t trust the writers, I am positive that whatever is waiting for these two, they’ll make it through. (Hmm I’m saying that now, but what will I be saying in two weeks? o.o;)Regardless, I’m going to look forward to see what happens next, because I know whatever it is, I will be with these two till the end. Eventually she became my favorite female character.Here was this little british scientist who was just supposed to be a funny side character. And then she got infected by an alien virus and jumped out of plane to save her best friend and her team. She chose to die to save them, and fortunately, she was rescued in time. An hour later she was smiling. Because she is amazingly resilient.In 1x13, she saw a bomb headed for her two friends and jumped on it without a second's hesitation, because her first instinct is to protect, even at the cost of her own life.In 1x22 she was trapped in a pod at the bottom of the ocean, waiting to die, and still smiling. She tried to let Fitz know it was going to be alright. If she was going to die, at least it would be with him. It was only when he told her she would have to leave him behind that she broke down and refused to accept it. After he fell into a coma, she blamed herself for not being able to save him and for taking their last bit of oxygen. And once he woke up, she saw that her presence made him worse, and left him in the belief that it would help him heal. She never wanted to leave her home or her team, but she did it for Fitz.When she came back, he was like a stranger to her. Still, Simmons kept reaching out to him, slowly establishing their relationship again. But she still carried all kinds of pain and anger. And she still wanted to protect her team more than anything. When Trip died as a result of Inhuman power and then Skye seemed to be infected, she felt helpless, like she couldn't protect anyone. She lashed out, pushed back against this Inhuman threat, only to realize that she was hurting Skye even more by doing that.Every time she tries to help, she messes up. Now, in season 3, we see a Simmons who still carries all her old pain, but with even more scars. After surviving for months alone on an alien planet, she's come home. She holds herself up to impossibly high standards and expects herself to heal quickly, but she's not as stable as she wants to be. Everyday life has become overwhelming. But she will continue smiling and assuring herself that she's okay, because that's what she's always done. She's made it this far. Now she has to keep going.PS: I know I should have made a Simmons video a long time ago. I hope this makes up for it. Except it’s an explosions that brings happiness and tears and flailing. I have a strong feeling this is going to be the season of fitzsimmons and I hope I’m right and I plan to enjoy every second of it. And here at the same time people are asking me “are you making a movie trailer for season 3?” And I’m just looking at the first two episodes like. “I could literally make a movie trailer from the first TWO episodes, how can I possibly make one for the entire season and manage to fit everything??” So that question is up in the air, and will be up in the air until this season closes. I made some minor shifts to shake things up, but hopefully without changing any actual details.I tried to show their storyline so that even someone who had never seen the show could follow it. For that reason, and because there just wasn’t room, I couldn’t include Skye’s transformation or Trip. (I really wanted to include Trip but there just wasn’t room! T__T) But I included Skye, May and Coulson as much as I could.Also, I was going to include the takeover of Fake Shield, but it just wasn’t working, so that became the main area where I changed some things. For example, the stuff with Fury’s Toolbox is different.And I used a few parallels in this video, if you can spot them. Fun stuff, parallels.This video is obviously very different from the first movie trailer, because the tone of season 2 was so different. If season 1 was full of colors, season 2 was nothing but grey. And the FitzSimmons arc was difficult and painful to watch, but I also think it was a very beautiful arc. For the most part, I think they handled their storyline very well (although some more screen time would have been nice, but what’s done is done eh?)Ever since the first trailer came out, I wanted to make another. I started out thinking “I don’t know HOW this can top the last one.” But I have become SO PROUD of this sequel and how it’s turned out. I enjoyed making it as much or more than the first video, and I am so excited for the final result. This might be my best FitzSimmons project yet. I hope you all enjoy this long awaited sequel. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________Won 4th place in the GMV Awards Best Storyteller category.The Story: (spoilers for the video)I made the first video I'm Not Him based on the question "What if Sora was the nobody and Roxas was the real one?"Roxas went to sleep so that Sora would retake their body. Roxas did it for Kairi because he loved her, and because Kairi wanted Sora, not him. In this video, Kairi has Sora back, but she realizes this gift was at the cost of Roxas's life. She knows it was because of her that Roxas went away and she can't forgive herself for the way she treated him. She goes through her life, trying to be happy that Sora is back, but inside she struggles with questions of guilt and forgiveness. Roxas must hate her, wherever he is. She wonders, if she died, would it make up for everything?Sora tries to talk to her, but she continues to pull away from him. Kairi can't tell Sora that every time she looks at him, she sees Roxas. Roxas can see Kairi struggling from where he is. He asks Sora to let him go to Kairi. Roxas's spirit will end up leaving their body, which is the only way he'll be able to speak to Kairi one last time. But in doing this, Roxas will permanently disappear and even Sora won't be able to speak to him again. Still, Roxas goes. Kairi stands at the edge of the sea, contemplating taking her own life. That's when she hears a voice. His voice, saying words she never expected to hear. He tells her he forgives her. And in hearing that, Kairi finds a way to forgive herself. This video was so long in coming! I've had plans for it since the first one came out! At the time, everyone was curious about what happened next. Unfortunately I took so long that I doubt anyone cares now. xD But at least I did it.I can't remember another video where I masked so much. I seriously tried to mask in this one. It's funny, I've wanted to do a video with a lot of masking for a long time, and it only took me four years to get around to it. And even then, I didn't mask THAT much. I tried to be creative with my masks to give myself less work, because honestly I hate masking. I can't believe there are people who enjoy it. That's great for you. For me, it's torturous.But I'm proud of this one. Too bad I didn't enjoy making it like I did the first one, because I took so long to do it. Attack on Titan is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen and this is me trying to put that feeling into a video. I love this anime, I love this song, and I wanted to see what the two would be like together. And this song fits this anime so wellbecause even though there's crazy titans and blood and action in this show, take all that away and this show is really about a bunch of kids thrown into a war that they weren't ready for and now they have to make it out of this thing, knowing that they're not all going to be there when it's over. There is just so much pain in this anime, it doesn't need saying. So this video is my attempted tribute to that. This is my first multifandom in... a long time. I really miss them but they destroy my computer. ^^; This is a (late) birthday video for my BFF! It took too long and I lost inspiration near the end so it took forever to finish it. But I'm still really proud of how it turned out. With this video I wanted to tie the footage together in a way I hadn't done before with multifandoms. I really wanted them to connect visually and symbolically. I also wanted to stick to the atmosphere of the song, so I used plenty of colors and overlays. (i've been abusing my overlays and really need to get some new ones though.)And eek this video gave me so much trouble at the end. It was totally fine for the first 90% and then the last bit just WOULD NOT WORK. I was trying to finish it and vegas wouldn't load it to save its life. As a result I had to render it in parts like an MEP, so the quality is not what I would like it to be. T__T I really need a computer. Haha I've been saying that for four years.I promise you that every fandom I used here is really good! And I always knew if I used this song, what coloring I would go for. Sunny and bright. I really like how it turned out too! It's different from my Sun video too, so I don't feel like I'm just repeating my colorings.Also the part at the end - totally thought of that halfway through the video. Can I hide in you and stay? // Eureka & Renton xxBlackLolitarose 2015-05-10 | Includes spoilers for the end of Eureka Seven. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------A long overdue video for one of my favorite anime pairings. This video is super old and I really should have uploaded it sooner!I started it probably over a year ago, as a way of finally editing to Eureka Seven. It’s really a great anime and I wish I could have edited to it more! It’s so underappreciated in the anime-editing community. This was also an excuse to edit to my two favorite scenes from the anime – first, when Renton saves Eureka as she’s falling (and I use that one a lot in multifandoms) and second, the scene where Renton learns there’s something wrong with her. Talking about it is bringing back all the feels. These two are great and deserve way more videos than they have. I love that their pairing starts as this silly one-sided crush and grows to the point that they act like they’re a married couple. They are so cute but also so meaningful. And they’re character development is well done, and ties right in with the development of their relationship. Renton starts out as a bit of a brat who’s always showing off. Eureka starts out as a cold, unemotional girl who doesn’t understand people. They both grow into mature individuals by the end, ready to take on the world. I wish I could have made a better tribute to them, because they deserve it. (For better tributes, see the end of the comments~)So this is the only tribute to this anime that I will ever do (---I can’t get motivated to edit with it). And it’s not even that great a video. Which is why I was so unmotivated to finish it for so long. But at least I made something. I’ve wanted to do a video for these two for such a long time. If you haven’t seen Eureka Seven, you really should. It’s a tiny bit older, but that actually makes it ten times better than the stuff they put out today. It has tons of adventure, a unique setting, unique characters, and a very interesting overarching story that they delve into. (Anime today does not accomplish these things.) Plus it’s the most enjoyable mecha show I’ve personally seen. It’s probably in my top ten anime list.And if you’re watching and you’re thinking “Oh shoot, I went and spoiled myself by watching this!”….welll the story of this anime is done in such a way that this video isn’t going to make any sense to you or spoil what actually happens in the story. And of those relationships my favorites are probably the three main pairings. FitzSimmons, SkyeWard, Phillinda. The sad thing is that (spoiler!) SkyeWard isn’t exactly part of it anymore. (I know a lot of people are hopeful that it’ll come back, and so am I, I just don’t see how.) I wanted to make a video about those three pairings and about how there is one member of each pairing that is known to yearn for the other. Of FitzSimmons, Fitz. Of Skyeward, Ward. Of Phillinda, May. In this video, Fitz, Ward, and May are focused on more than the others (or at least that’s what I was going for). I love how they yearn after their pairing partner. It might seem like I focused on FitzSimmons a tad more, because hey, they’re my favorite of all, and also Fitz embodies the concept of yearning more than anyone else, and more than most characters I know. It’s kind of funny, I started this video way back around when 2x04 came out. I made most of the video before the mid-season finale and then got sidetracked and only now got around to finishing it. But the video is really about their relationships in season 1 and in season 2A. It’s crazy how much has changed since I started making this video. FitzSimmons went down and up and down and up. SkyeWard has well… we won’t talk about them (it makes me sad). Phillinda… ok Phillinda is the same. (wouldyoutwogetmarriedalready?) So this has become a reminiscing video. It’s probably the last video for a while that will contain mostly season 1. I’m determined to edit season 2 this summer. (I’m excited!)This is the last video (I think) in my Atlas: Space series. Editing Comments:I knew this video wasn’t going to be fast paced or anything, so I worked hard at the colors. I started out wanting to give the video a dark, melancholy look and also a space look. Two years old I think. I started it after I finished Bioshock Infinite because that is one awesome game - awesome enough to momentarily break my streak of KH/FF only. I started this and got it done in about a month and then lost inspiration and let it sit on my computer for two years because I didn't want to go back and fix things. That’s the point of this. I admit for a long while I was holding onto the FitzSimmons of season 1. I was enjoying the new FitzSimmons but I was still pining over the science babies from last year. Gradually, I have come out of that and with “Leo” it was official. I have said goodbye to season 1 and I am loving what is happening in season 2 (not that I wasn’t already, but it’s official now. xD) And can we talk about “Leo?” That was one of the biggest things ever, no matter what anyone says. xD And the hand-holding. Oh the hand-holding, the first official time they’ve really held hands (cuz in season 1 she put his hand on his but it wasn’t the same.) Oops I’ve gone off on a tangent. Anyway, yay for season 2 FitzSimmons. This video is to make up for the fact that I haven’t made a season 2-only video yet. And I wanted to edit to the current episodes. So this video is supposed to depict the few good moments they’ve had contrasted with the bad, and how much they’ve been yearning for each other but unable to bridge the distance. And then it all came together in episode 15 when she held his hand. I need to take a minute on that. Because everyone believed Fitz and Simmons would have to have some giant blow-up conversation and there would be yelling and truths would be told and crying would be involved. We thought that was what it would take for them to finally communicate. We forgot that with FitzSimmons, ¾ of it is about the words that aren’t said. “Let me show you” is a famous line, and that’s exactly what they do. They don’t say how much they mean to each other, they show it. That’s what Simmons did by reaching out and holding his hand. It showed him that in spite of all their fighting she still loved him and was still willing to work through things. And then Fitz held it back, which reciprocated what she was saying and basically put them on the same wave length again. And then the next episode we got a sandwich. So yeah, I’m in a PRETTY GOOD MOOD right now. The writers are taking care of our science babies.Lol the funny thing is this video is a vent-ish one about the emotion that’s been going on between them. I didn’t have the heart to do it earlier because things were so bad. Now that they’re good it’s like “Ok, I can make an emotional video now about the struggles of season 2 because things are looking up!” Editing is simple. Went for some beats and tried a new coloring but it looks the same as others I’ve done. Boo hoo. And I know this song kind of doesn’t fit them (except for the sweater bit xD). I just really felt like editing to this song. Honestly, I wanted to do a video with Neptune by Sleeping At Last, because it is PERFECT for season 2. But I couldn’t get in the mood to use it. It’s annoying how that happens sometimes! I have so many Shield projects I want to do and no time. But look forward to some season 2 videos, because I really want to make some!
