Makers Choice - Week 52 : The finale of One Button a Week 2022 - Community Contributions - buttons! Gina-B Silkworks 2023-01-24 | The last week of the challenge was simply one for each maker to decide what they wanted to make - and boy are there some wonderful buttons included - of course! Our contributors have worked tirelessly making buttons throughout 2022, some every week, others whenever they could. And each and every button has been a joy to behold. We've watched new buttonmakers develop and grow over the year, and seen experienced makers push their boundaries. It has been lovely, and I really want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed - be it for one button, or for 52 - and especially those who have taken the time to like and comment and compliment the makers.
Holiday - One Button a Week 2022 - week 51 community contributions / wonderful hand made buttons! Gina-B Silkworks 2023-01-24 | Christmas fell within week 51, so of course that tended to be the theme across most of the buttons. But we do have other ideas - sunshine and water for summer holidays - a santa getting sunburnt of his holiday, as well as Hanukka and Holi represented. It is a lovely selection, especially as everyone was of course busy with their own holiday preparations. Thank you contributors!

So, this basically was a free week for our contributors - and many chose to show us wonderful button creations, such as jewellery and a wedding bouquet! Then, there are the button-buttons - fastenings made using other buttons, or depicting buttons. Fluffy buttons! Community Contributions week 41 / wonderful handmade buttons Gina-B Silkworks 2022-11-01 | Our prompt for week 41 was "fluffy". This has resulted in some really tactile buttons, as you would imagine. Fluffy yarns, pompoms, felt, and soft fabrics have all been used, as have fluffy stitch techniques. We have a fluffy spider, a hat pompom, a bird nest lining, a cat, a gnome's beard and a troll's hair!As always, the contributors have really used their imagination to represent the prompt, creating some really marvellous buttons! Introducing Ginas Grantham Button© - original templates to create pretty basketweave buttons Gina-B Silkworks 2022-10-18 | In this video I'll introduce our latest button template kit - Gina's Grantham Button©! Why "Grantham"? Well, simply because we are based in Grantham, Lincolnshire, UK!And, if you make these using the right colour of wool they do rather resemble the famous Grantham gingerbread... ;) (see below for a link to a Grantham company who makes it)An initial technique to create the basketweave was first published by Gina back in 2013. These unique templates bring that technique on, allowing the woven piece to be made on a reusable loom as opposed to being worked directly onto a button mould. The prompt was lace, and there are so many wonderful examples here. From snippets of antique and keepsake lace, to handworked needle lace and bobbin laces. There are also many styles, including Teneriffe lace and Battenburg (tape) lace, crochet, tatting, mediterranean knotted lace and even a shoelace toggle! As always, thank you contributors!
Weave - Week 39 Buttons / One Button a Week 2022 Community Contributions Gina-B Silkworks 2022-10-18 | As always, we have some really stunning buttons from our community. Weave allows for many interpretations and the end results are quite stunning. Texture, colour and creativity abounds! Needleweaving, basketweave, checkerboards, then there are the lattice, interlaced and all of the weaves using unbalanced fibres. There are designs with interwoven areas, and we even have a lovely spider's web!Thank you contributors!!

So many contributors said they thought this was a tough prompt, and yet they've created such wonderful buttons! There are skulls and crossbones, maps, treasure and treasure chests, and quite a few pirates, including Captain Jack, a minion pirate - and even a smiley face pirate ;) . Teddy buttons! One Button a Week 2022 - week 36 / Handcrafted thread, fabric and textile buttons Gina-B Silkworks 2022-10-09 | Our prompt for week 36 was Teddy. And we have got some sweet ones here! We've got honey for Pooh (as well as Pooh himself), checks for Rupert, a marmalade sandwich in a handbag and the Queen for Paddington - and all sorts of lovable cuddly teddies - a full Teddy bear's picnic!
