Rovers signed winger, Tyrhys Dolan, on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 after the, then 18 year old, had been released by local rivals Preston North End.

Dolan's arrival brought added enthusiasm and creativity to a Rovers squad already containing a number of quality players at Championship level. Dolan would prove a useful squad option to compliment the work of the likes of Adam Armstrong, Ben Brereton and Harvey Elliott. The youngster's trickery and willingness to beat a defender immediately caught the eye as it had been many years since Rovers had last had such a player in their ranks.

Dolan's minutes were to be managed carefully, however, in order to gradually acclimatise him to first team football. His first taste of action in a Rovers shirt came on the opening day of the 2020/21 season at Bournemouth, playing 20 minutes as a substitute in a 3-2 defeat. The following game against Wycombe saw Dolan complete 90 minutes. However, he would not play the full 90 minutes again until March 2021, where he completed three consecutive games as a starter.

Dolan's first Rovers goal came in the aforementioned game against Wycombe, as Rovers raced away to a 5-0 win. He followed this up the following week with another goal as Rovers thumped Derby 4-0 at Pride Park. Dolan was to score three goals in his first season at the club and his third goal was a particular sweet moment for him. The goal coming at Deepdale, in a Rovers rout, against the club that had not long released him. Dolan made 40 appearances in all in his debut season, which shows how much the manager, Tony Mowbray, valued his contribution to the team.

The following season, the 2021/22 campaign, saw Dolan make 35 appearances in the Championship, whilst completing the full 90 six times. Rovers just fell short of the play off places, finishing 8th, but Dolan's goal output had slightly improved with the attacker scoring five times in all competitions.

Over the next three seasons Rovers would go very close to making the play offs, finishing 7th on both occasions, and Dolan more than played his part in Rovers' charge up the table. Dolan played a key role under both Jon Dahl Tomasson and John Eustace in having Rovers on the very edge of a play off spot, something the club has failed to achieve since relegation from the Premier League in 2012. Dolan went on to make a combined 137 appearances from the years 2022-25 and scoring 18 goals during that time.

Having seen his contract expire in the summer of 2025, Dolan was released by the club after five seasons as a Rovers player. He was signed by Spanish Club, Espanyol, on a free transfer in July 2025.

Tyrhys Dolan arrived at Blackburn Rovers as a fresh faced 18 year old boy and left as a man who had made over 200 appearances in English Football's Second Tier.
