We are starting out mild and muggy with temperatures in the 70’s. Highs this afternoon will reach the lower 90’s north of I-10 and upper 80’s to near 90 degrees at the beaches. Heat index will top out near 100 degrees. A few showers and storms are possible mainly this afternoon along the sea breeze, but most stay dry. Through the rest of the week, rain chances increase Thursday into Friday as more moisture moves into our area. These rain chances go back down to typical summertime as we approach the weekend. Highs will stay in the low-to-mid 90’s. In the tropics, we are tracking Tropical Storm Edouard that is set to make landfall along the Texas/Louisiana coast later today. The current NHC forecast has Edouard strengthening up until landfall and moving onshore as a strong tropical storm, possibly nearing hurricane strength. Once it moves inland, it should weaken pretty quickly with the system becoming a remnant low by Wednesday afternoon.
