This is Typhoon Lan, close to making landfall in Japan, with sustained winds around 95mph. Central Japan could see up to 300mm of rain, with flash flooding and a coastal storm surge likely. In the coming days, the storm, along with rain and wind, will head northeast towards Hokkaido.
