Two women are in the hospital after a late-night shooting on Columbus’ East Side. The shooting prompted an officer to fire a weapon as police worked to determine who opened fire along a neighborhood street.
The shooting happened just after 10:30 Monday evening along Gibbard Avenue, according to Columbus police. Officers were already in the area investigating a previous incident when one or multiple suspects began firing shots.
Police said several community members were outside, and investigators were not sure whether the shots were being fired at officers.
