Two banh mi stalls just a few metres apart in Hanoi's Old Quarter couldn't be more different. One opened in 1987 and has been popular with locals since then - but had no travellers during our visits. Another opened more recently and has done a stint at number one on Tripadvisor. It was packed most of the time.
