Two Americans. Two Visions. One Choice. Warren Vs. Musk
Elizabeth Warren wants to tax what you built. Elon Musk is building what never existed.
This week I am covering both. And the contrast could not be more stark.
Elizabeth Warren just reintroduced the Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act of 2026.
Before you say "that's not my problem" — that is exactly what they are counting on.
Warren says the wealthy don't pay their fair share. So let's look it up.
The top 10% pays approximately 90% of all federal income taxes. The top 1% pays roughly 40% of the entire tab. Nearly half of all Americans pay zero federal income tax.
Zero. Fair share of what exactly?
A wealth tax is not like anything we have seen before. Right now you are taxed on what you earn. A wealth tax looks at your entire balance sheet — every asset, every stake, every investment you have not sold — and taxes the total value. Every single year. Whether you made a dollar or not.
Your business is worth tens of millions on paper but throws off a fraction in actual cash? Warren's government shows up January first and sends a bill based on what it is worth — not what you made. Not when you sell. Today.
You say — I don't have that cash. It's all in the business.
They say — not our problem.
Taxed on the way up. Eat the losses on the way down. Heads they win. Tails you lose.
Europe ran this experiment. France ran their wealth tax 35 years. 60,000 millionaires left. $200 billion walked out the door. They killed it. Sweden repealed theirs and got Spotify and Klarna.
This bill will not pass today. Warren knows that. This is about normalizing it. Moving the line. So in ten years when it comes back at $5M instead of $50M — people shrug.
Don't shrug. The income tax started at 1% in 1913. The lowest bracket today is 10%.
We know exactly how this story ends.
Now Elon Musk.
Last week he took the stage in Austin and announced Terafab. Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI. The largest chip manufacturing project in human history.
The entire world produces 20 gigawatts of compute per year. Musk says that is 2% of what he needs. So he is building his own. One terawatt target. Fifty times current global output. $25 billion. Every stage of semiconductor production under one roof.
80% of it going into space. One million AI satellites in orbit powered by solar energy.
His reason? Humanity needs a backup civilization.
Most people hear that and roll their eyes. Musk hears it and writes a $25 billion check.
SpaceX is filing its IPO at a $1.75 trillion valuation. The largest public offering in financial history. And Musk wants 30% available to retail investors. The man building a galactic civilization wants everyday people to own a piece of it.
This is entrepreneurship at its highest expression. Identifying a constraint the entire world accepts as fixed — and deciding to eliminate it.
The world doesn't have enough chips. Build the factory. Humanity needs a backup home. Build one.
One person. One vision. The willingness to bet everything.
Two Americans. Two ideas. One taxes the engine of progress. The other builds civilizations.
The families that understand which side of this equation to be on — in their investments, their thinking, and their vision — are the ones that define what comes next.
Twenty years. One hundred billionaire ecosystems. Most family offices are one bad decade away from irrelevance. The ones that survive regimes, technology disruptions, and generational transitions don't get lucky — they are built differently from the inside out. The frameworks are inside.
