A couple weeks ago, two McDonnell Douglas DC-10 tankers were operating out of Victorville Airport in Southern California.

These two DC-10s belong to Omega Aerial Refueling Services, a commercial aerial refueling company that has contracts with several military customers.

They have a fleet of Boeing 707s and DC-10s, both of which are quite rare to see flying these days, especially with the recent retirement of the U.S. Air Force KC-10s.

One of these planes was a former Royal Netherlands Air Force KDC-10 which was sold to Omega in 2019, and the other is a rare ex-Japan Airlines DC-10-40. Both planes are over 46 years old!

A few friends and I were on a road trip last month and happened to be stopping in Victorville on a day where both of them were flying. Victorville also happens to be one of the largest airliner storage facilities in the world, so seeing these classic trijets in action with this kind of a background was pretty surreal.
