The February meeting of the VFS Commercial Air Transport working group featured a discussion with Jaunt Air Mobility chief commercial officer Dr. Simon Briceno. Topics discussed include the development of the Jaunt Journey - a highly efficient slowed rotor compound aircraft.
Simon Briceno Ph.D. is a senior aerospace and advanced air mobility executive with more than 25 years of experience leading the design, commercialization, and deployment of next-generation aircraft and uncrewed air systems. His work helped to generate more than $1.2B in aircraft orders and advance the integration of advanced air mobility into real-world operations.
Prior to industry, Dr. Briceno worked for 18 years at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory, where he rose to Faculty and Division Chief for Transformative Aviation Concepts. He led multidisciplinary research teams, secured over $20M in sponsored research, and authored more than 70 publications focused on aircraft design, certification, safety, and future mobility systems for NASA, the FAA, industry, and the Department of Defense. Simon earned a Ph.D. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University, and is an FAA Commercial and Remote Pilot.
