After a trilogy of critically acclaimed albums and a ten-year hiatus, Romain Turzi, the underground pope of French alternative music, returns to the helm to compose and produce his latest opus "Drop!", supported on vocals by his longtime friend Oliver Gage and his autobiographical, melancholic writing, bringing to life a musical epic that is intimate and redeeming, filled with oblique pop songs and club tracks that bring punks and dancers together.
An album with diverse influences, it invokes film score legends (Goblin, Angelo Badalamenti), the tenors of electronic and techno music (808 State, Dopplereffekt), the hedonistic spirit of 80s brit rock (Happy Mondays, Stone Roses), the finely chiseled melodies of timeless folk singers (Woody Guthrie, Neil Young), and the sonic power of My Bloody Valentine or Andrew Weatherall’s productions.
A record of friendship and wild creative liberty, "Drop!" is an invitation to escape the gravity of the present and reach for a kind of ecstasy that is utterly necessary.
