In light of recent events, and what I just learned about Shane's past racist behavior, harmful treatment of children, and my stance as a black woman, I have posted an updated video about my thoughts on Shane that I recommend you watch here: youtube.com/watch?v=rbI8E7qpjXc
While there is nothing problematic about my video, I absolutely will not ignore what I've witnessed, and realize his past actions affect not only my work, but so many of us. It's always important to remember to be careful who you hold as inspiration, idols, or who you stan, without knowing the full intentions of their history or hearts, and be willing to learn, and adjust your thoughts about those who may have been harmful to your communities. While I can't say for certain if he's changed or not, time will have to tell, I do know that it hurts many of us now, regardless of when it happened.
