Dane Groneman is an 18-year-old self-taught woodturner with a deep passion for the craft. His journey began in the woodshop of his high school, located in a small community in Lassen County, California. There, he discovered an old Powermatic lathe sitting unused in the corner. Curious and eager to learn, Dane asked his teacher for help—but with only basic knowledge of scrapers, the guidance was limited.
Undeterred, Dane dove into the world of woodturning on his own. He spent countless hours watching YouTube tutorials and reading books to teach himself the fundamentals. From the moment he fired up the lathe for the first time, he was hooked.
Inspired by renowned turners like Richard Raffan and Steve Jones, Dane has been honing his skills for nearly two years. His dedication and love for the art are evident in every piece he creates, each one a reflection of craftsmanship, curiosity, and passion for woodturning.
