「 Music Mouse! 」💾🐁 Using Eventide’s brand new update of Laurie Spiegel’s classic Music Mouse software to sequence dual Akemie’s Castles for 4 FM voices.
Music Mouse turns your computer into a musical instrument, played by pushing the music around in real time with the computer’s mouse while accessing the realtime control options from the computer’s keyboard. Music Mouse was originally written in the mid 1980s by composer and computer music pioneer Laurie Spiegel. Continuing after 40 years, the program has now been updated by Eventide to run on modern computer hardware.
In this patch we sequence a pair of Akemie’s Castles from an M3 iMac running the new Music Mouse. The MIDI produced by Music Mouse is converted to CV and Gate via 2 mmMidi’s connected directly to the iMac with USB-C. The 4 CV outs are connected the V/Oct pitch inputs of the four FM oscillators of the Akemie’s Castles with the 4 gate outs connected directly to the 4 inputs of the left Pamela’s PRO Workout, acting as a triggered polyphonic envelope. The 4 vertical output pairs of Pam are set up to all use the special Trigger modifier assigned to Clock, Run, CV1 and CV2 respectfully, producing 2 envelopes to control FM depth and VCA level for each of the 4 Castle voices. A second Pam PRO acts as an octature triangle wave LFO, modulating the wave and multipliers of the 4 Castle voices with phase offset outputs. The patch is tweaked alongside gestures from the mouse and keyboard, for a one of a kind composition only Music Mouse could produce.
