Just as turbidity currents vary downslope, their deposits - the turbidites - also vary, reflecting those changes in flow. In this video, I talk about how different turbidite facies (parts of the Bouma sequence) are deposited at different places along the flow and slope. By recognizing these variations in ancient turbidites, a geologist can reconstruct aspects of the turbidity current and the depositional environment.
