I broke this video into two parts. This one is a bit on the long side, but there is quite a bit to the process, and so I feel that it needs to be kept thorough. It is still pretty easy to make this; I started making these when I was just a kid. Oh, and even though I mention that it can be made with a minimum of tools, I never said that I was going to do it that way!
I imagine that this video will attract viewers who are outside of my normal demographic, and that means that they may know less about some of the processes that I can usually assume my normal viewers to already understand. Making a video is kind of like writing in this respect. You must assume that the audience knows nothing, but you must always remember that the audience is not stupid. If you assume that the audience already knows what you are talking about, you will likely be either perceived as pretentious or else you will lose their interest. If you talk down to your audience as though they were completely clueless, you will be perceived as condescending or boring. I guess it is a delicate balance, but I really do try to talk to you as an equal. I really don't like having to act dumb just to fit in, and I really, really don't want anybody to think that I am trying to sound smarter than I am. It is so awkward to watch someone who uses words that are outside of their comfortable vocabulary. I do not want to be that guy.
Okay, I don't know why this upload is "taking longer than expected," but I have rambled for long enough. I'm tired, and it's time to go eat chips in bed while watching Star Trek. You think that's lame? Not as lame as reading about someone else doing it in the description of a youtube video!
