This morning we saw hundreds of tubesnout in the shallows. But they looked quite different than usual. The males had neon orange pelvic fins, a black head, and a white snout. They were flapping their little orange fins to hopefully attract a female. I mean, they certainly got my attention. The males were also shaking their bodies which is their version of a sexy dance to try and impress the females. These males were super territorial, attacking other males that dared enter their area. In the end, all this hard work paid off, because he was guarding some beautiful eggs.
