I’ve always been super interested in pole dance and fitness but was always way too intimidated to try (even when I had two legs). This past month I had a day where I said “screw it, what’s the worst that could happen?” and showed up to a class same day.
I’m SO GLAD I did. It is so much fun and super athletically challenging. I wasn’t sure if I’d even be able to do anything with my one side being prosthetic (skin contact, ankle bend, and knee bending are really important in pole, neither of which I can do well on that side!) - but like almost everything else, modifications make it totally do-able. Also having the pole relieves a lot of pressure on my leg!
I still have zero clue what I’m doing, but it has been such a blast to try learning something new & challenging and I’m going to keep taking classes! 💜
