In today’s video, we’re using Distress Inks on a craft mat for ink smushing to create loose, organic, layered backgrounds. This technique is perfect if you love the look of spray backgrounds but don’t have sprays, or if you want to use your inks more and explore a messier, more expressive approach.
This creative play series is designed to help you use what you already have in your stash, experiment with techniques without overthinking, and enjoy the process of creating backgrounds you’ll actually want to use.
