Providence put together a week of on-campus activities to honour our National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. We listened and reflected together with our Indigenous brothers and sisters, participating together in worship, storytelling, games and meals around the fire.
Providence carries out its activity as an educational institution on the traditional territories of the Cree, Anishinabe, and Métis nations. We honor them as the ancient peoples and current hosts of this part of God’s creation.
The Roseau River First Nation Community is the nearest relatives to these ancient peoples. We live together according to Treaty One signed in 1871. We seek to understand Indigenous perspectives and the story of the land on which our campus rests.
