Patrick Scott Patterson | TRON: A trip to the original site of Flynn's Arcade @PatrickScottPatterson | Uploaded June 2012 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
PatrickScottPatterson.com - While nearby for E3 2012 I took a trip to nearby Culver City to visit the Hull Building, the famous site that served as the original Flynn's Arcade in the original Tron film in 1982.
Today the Hull Building holds the Akasha Restaurant, which was kind enough to let me come by and film for a short time. I tried to get the same shots as used in the original for the comparison shots but wasn't typically able to. The front establishing shot was gained by standing on a narrow median in the middle of the street.
The inside of the restaurant today is much different than Flynn's. The place in the old arcade that held the original Space Paranoids machine prop is currently part of the kitchen, so no filming that.
The Hull Building is already a protected landmark as a historic building in Culver City and is also part of my Registry of Historic Gaming Locations project (click the link to my website to see others)
