The scam: Scammers pretending to be with a power company will call and say your account is past due and you need to pay them on the spot over the phone. It's a convincing scam as they usually use spoofed numbers and the actual recordings from the legitimate power company. Do not fall for this scam, and hang up if someone threatens you into paying a bill on the spot.
