Fallen for the MSCENERY scam selection of over 1000+ products in the Microsoft Flight Simulator marketplace to find over-inflated reviews, mis-represented product descriptions and fake AI generated imagery not depicting the product you eventually bought? Well, Microsoft Flight Simulator's marketplace team have FINALLY began to take a stand and have removed MSCENERY entirely.

... but that is not the end of the problem. MORE developers of a similar poor-quality mis-selling nature exist, "Scenery Creation" being one of them. More MUST be done.

Are you in the UK or the EU? Can you get your money back? You can certainly try! This is NOT legal advice, nor have I tried it - but I wanted to highlight options you may wish to explore yourselves based on your own personal circumstances.

Chapter 3, Part 1 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 set's out expectations of products, like addons purchased in the marketplace into law. This TRUMPS a marketplace policy unless they have terms within it that cut this off (but that would in itself be potentially a different issue)

A rough draft for a polite request for a refund could be along the lines of:-
I am requesting a refund for the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace add-on “Scenery Creation 737-100” (INSERT WHICHEVER PRODUCT IT IS YOU ARE REQUESTING A REFUND FOR). I am not requesting this because I changed my mind. I am requesting it because the digital content is not as described and was misleadingly presented. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. The product’s Marketplace presentation does not match the actual delivered content. Please provide a refund or confirm how you will remedy the issue within a reasonable time.

^ send this along with evidence of the mis-selling. The AI generated fake product imagery, misleading description and so on.

Submit a ticket here: flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015885580-How-to-request-a-refund and begin the challenge to try and get a refund.

Do NOT at any point tick any option, or state you have changed your mind.

If all else fails, ask it to be escalated. If no joy, if you're in the UK contact your Card Provider to launch a Chargeback request or speak to PayPal to raise a dispute explaining everything again politely, and clearly, backed up by evidence.
