The creature comes out of the ground, so Val (Kevin Bacon) and Earl (Fred Ward) run away. Rhonda (Finn Carter) follows them. They stop at the edge of the cliff, and the huge worm seems to be heading toward them as it passes underground. He is going at full speed. Earl and Rhonda pull away to avoid him, but Val stands there despite the screams of his two comrades. He waits until the last moment to step aside, and the creature topples into the void and explodes to the ground. He is congratulated by everyone.
