Amtrak 156 arrived at Manassas station with an engine that looks like it had been vandalized. What happened was a tree was down in Nokesville and 156 couldn't stop in time. Lead unit P42DC 174 commemorating Mark B Kenny, had damaged windows, broken wipers, dented bodywork, and a broken headlight. Despite this, 156 only lost about 15 minutes and by the time engines were swapped at DC Union Station, 156 was on time again.
The railroad crossing here is interesting for this line. NS doesn't have that many quad gate crossings in Virginia. Not to mention it's the only quad gate crossing in Manassas where both crossings east and immediately west are standard double gates. The extra gates here seem pointless considering it's an otherwise normal crossing. Not even a quiet zone.
Each signal here is a very standard 2000s Norfolk Southern install with Safetran gates, Safetran 12x20 incandescent lights, RECO gate lights, and a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell. The Type 3 has a moment with the quad gates where it rings once on lowering and raising of those gates. Something about the circuits there just doesn't want to cooperate.
