This was an assignment for a computational photography class. I took 10 seconds of video and then found the optimal loop. I overlapped the loop by 1 second and had it do a fade in to the next loop around. This was a visible improvement over a hard restart of the loop.
Next step is to do a graph cut. Graph cuts would allow the loop to switch over individual pixels to the new loop when it will be least visible.
