Welcome back to another episode of Unraveled! 💜
This week starts with some seriously good fabric, including my first look at Tree of Life from P&B Textiles, which somehow managed to be even better in person than I expected. The details! The panels! The colors! I had already ordered more before we even finished looking at it. 😂
We also take a peek at Animal Kingdom + Mirage by Gareth Lucas for Windham Fabrics and go through Fleur de Love by Create Joy Project for Moda, full of painterly florals, hearts, watercolor textures, and some really beautiful blenders.
Then the conversation shifts.
I share something that happened behind the scenes this week with a fabric rep and why it became a real-world example of what I mean when I talk about inclusion.
For me, inclusion has one very simple rule: you can be different from me. You can believe differently than me. You can come from an entirely different background than me. But your belonging here cannot require somebody else’s exclusion.
And that rule applies to people who think like me, too.
Building Mx Domestic around that principle means sometimes having harder conversations instead of simply walking away. It means trying to create change inside the industry, protecting the boundaries I need for my own nervous system, and staying open to people who are different without making space for exclusion.
This was a little fabric, a little storytime, a little rant, and a pretty big conversation about what I’m actually trying to build here.
