This video was originally planned for earlier this month as an anniversary upload (its been 6 years since this channels first video!). But I got a little busy and had to delay it.
Unravel is probably one of the most overdone anime cover songs on YouTube and for good reason. But its also why I never really considered arranging it for the longest time. Anything I came up with at the time just sounded too similar to other covers Ive heard. On top of that, I was also regularly practicing Animenzs Unravel cover. There was too much external influence; not necessarily a bad thing, but it felt like there just wasnt much left for my own expressive freedom.
Fast forward to now, Ive pretty much stopped watching anime (except AoT lol) along with a natural decline in my engagement with anime piano. As a result, Im able to approach the song with a fresher mindset and Im able to have more clarity on my personal arrangement style.
Now, you may notice that some of the sections have similarities with Animenzs cover. Ive come to terms that those parts are objectively suitable for the arrangement. Therefore, I have no issues with using the same patterns because it reflects what I wouldve done with or without listening to Animenzs version.
Anyways, heres my long overdue take at arranging Unravel. Hope you guys like it, thanks for watching!
