A million flamingo on Lake Bogoria in Kenya. A bird watchers heaven. This is an alkaline lake well known for its geysers and lesser flamingo. If the conditions are suitable its possible to see more than a million flamingo in a chaos of pink- landing, taking off, flying past, feeding, washing and socializing on the lake.
In less suitable years it can be almost deserted of birds.
The hot water geysers provide a source of fresh water for the birds to drink and to wash their plumage.
This is one of the world's greatest wildlife events.
