Hey everyone. Today I’m going to show you how to flush the transmission fluid on a Honda S2000.
Difficulty: Easy
Estimated time: 30 minutes
Tools necessary:
- 17mm Socket & Ratchet
- 3/8 Ratchet
- Torque Wrench
- 2 bottles of Honda MTF
- Fluid Hand Pump
- Oil Drain Pan
- Replacement crush washers (Fill: 94109-2000 (20mm)
Drain: 94109-14000 (14mm))
Steps.
1. The first thing you want to do is get the car on jackstands and place an oil drain pan underneath the transmission.
2. Remove the oil fill bolt using a 17mm socket and ratchet. This bolt becomes extremely easy to turn once loosened so I suggest breaking the bolt loose with a rubber mallet so you don’t hurt your hand. Be careful as some fluid might flow out.
3. Remove the oil drain bolt using a ⅜ inch ratchet. I suggest breaking this bolt loose with a rubber mallet as well. Catch the oil as it flows out of the drain hole.
4. Once the oil is finished draining remove the old drain bolt crush washer and insert a new one onto the drain bolt. Reinstall the drain bolt using a ⅜ inch ratchet and torque it to 29 ft-lbs.
5. Use a pump to fill the transmission with oil. If you’re using Honda MTF you’re going to have to use two bottles. You will know when the transmission oil level is full when fluid starts to flow out the fill hole.
6. Remove the old fill bolt crush washer and insert a new one onto the fill bolt. Reinstall the fill bolt using a 17mm socket and ratchet. Torque it to 33 ft-lbs.
7. Wipe away any excess oil, lower your car back down to the ground and enjoy.
