Seventh Grade: From Redirection to Containment.
Up to this point, we've focused on redirecting the horse when they make an unwanted choice. Now we're teaching them that “whoa” means stop.
We start slowly, allowing the horse to move forward before asking them to stop into our hands. The less momentum they have, the easier it is to build a clear, reliable stop.
Containment isn't about pulling harder, it's about teaching the horse that when we say “whoa,” they can confidently come back to us.
Slow it down. Build the stop. Create control.
