A short film compiling every sun & moon plane transit I captured during 2025, all shot from my balcony in Sydney.
Over the past year this obsession grew into a project, dozens of fleeting moments where aircraft traced clean silhouettes across the Sun and Moon. Everything here was shot handheld/rigged from my apartment balcony on a Fujifilm X-T4 with a Tamron 150–500mm lens. I built an app called TransitChaser (www.transitchaser.com) that predicts these transits and sends me early alerts so I can be ready with camera and settings — without that tool I wouldn’t have caught nearly as many.
Camera: Fujifilm X-T4
Lens: Tamron 150–500mm
Typical settings: manual exposure, fast shutter for silhouette frames, careful use of ND/solar filters when shooting the Sun — always use proper solar filters when pointing at the Sun.
(If you want exact EXIF/settings for specific clips, check the pinned comment or DM me.)
About TransitChaser
I built TransitChaser to predict plane transits across bright bodies (Sun, Moon). It analyzes flight paths and local viewing geometry and sends me an early alert so I can prepare. If you’re into timing, astrophotography, or just want to catch these rare moments, check it out: transitchaser.com

Music: royalty-free track (see license link below).
Please don’t use footage from this video without permission — DM for collaboration or licensing.
Special thanks to everyone who helped test the app and to the pilots who made these silhouettes possible.
