Laying out where holes need to match existing holes isn't always a straight forward operation. Sometimes they aren't square or symmetrical. To duplicate the existing holes many use transfer screws or punches. Those usually cost a bunch of money, you need to order them, and wait for your order to arrive... Try just using bolts, or allthread for blind holes, and grind/sand/turn the tip into a point. Screw it into the hole, a tap or two with a hammer on your piece, and voila! A transfer screw for pennies on the dollar, and available now, not 3-5 business days.
