Hey all, Omn1science here and today we're bringing you the runner up in the 2014 THF montage contest; Sillygoose's Into the Tranq.
As to be expected, this is a really fantastic montage. Silly delivers fast paced editing with solid flow, and those of you who enjoy more classic style videos are in for a treat as he chose to keep the effects and otherwise minimalistic and clean.
The intro is easily my favorite piece of work in this video, with some good looking 3D and a really awesome, creative concept. From there the gameplay kicks off, and Silly brought us probably the cleanest editing I've ever seen. Every effect, transition and angle was executed perfectly, and serves to highlight Tranqs excellent MLG gameplay. Look out for the whip no scope over exterm at 2:05, the exterm at 4:35, and the killtac at 10:57.
Because of the decision to keep things a bit minimalist, I did notice that we didn't get to see any classic "HIS POWER LEVEL IS OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAND!!!!" Sillygoose moments, and I did feel that the video could have been a bit shorter. There were a few clips that I could tell were special to Tranq in some way due to the decision making or awareness or otherwise in the clip, but these nuances didn't really translate over with the fast paced editing and these clips ended up seeming like fillers, especially on first watch.
Overall this is one of the best H3 MLG videos in years, and its placement in the THF contest was well deserved.
