This section of the Canadian Rocky Mountains has been over 10 years in the making! At almost 50 km long and 40 km wide the beautiful Columbia River Basin covers a staggering 2000 sq km. Bounded in the east by the Rocky Mountains, the west by the Cascade Range, and to the south of the Great Basin, the land within is exceptionally diverse with tall mountains, arid plateaus, green river valleys, and deep gorges.
This majestic route has fantastic scenic views everywhere you look and provides a diverse and unique rail experience. Much of the route follows the Columbia River which starts in British Columbia and empties into the Pacific Ocean near Astoria Oregon. It features numerous bridges and tunnels as the track winds along the river's edge. There's a large central yard at the town of Golden, a variety of industries throughout and portals at each track end feed and remove through traffic.
This prototypical route is a subsection of the world famous CPR Mountain Subdivision and is the first in an entire series of Canadian Rocky Mountain routes being created for Trainz.
