leokimvideo | Trains Extremely Loud Rail Squeal Noise Caught On Dashcam WARNING REMOVE HEADPHONES @leokimvideo | Uploaded October 2020 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
Examples of extremely loud ear piercing train rail squeal. There must be something wrong with the trains wheels. How can people live near this sort of savage rail noise. The Freight Train seen in the video was headed south towards Hornsby station the sound was completely overpowering. Another noisy section is just past Hornsby through Normanhurst. Let's hope the rail engineers can solve this problem.
Rail squeal is a screeching train-track friction sound, commonly occurring on sharp curves. Squeal is presumably caused by the lateral sticking and slipping of the wheels across top of the railroad track. This results in vibrations in the wheel that increase until a stable amplitude is reached.
Lubricating the rails has limited success. Speed reduction also appears to reduce noise levels.
