Great Western Railway launches Train Manager announcement competition

Children encouraged to dress up in their best train uniform

Calling all kids! Great Western Railway wants you to perfect your best Train Manager announcements.

The train operator is launching its latest #GWREnterTrainment competition, designed to help home-schooling parents keep their youngsters educated and entertained.

GWR wants children to deliver their best announcements and has produced a video featuring top tips from Train Manager Sophia Davies. View the video here.

Top tips: GWR Train Manager Sophia Davies

Sophia said:

“If you dream of becoming a Train Manager one day then this competition is just for you. We’d love you to record an announcement of your favourite train journey.

“Ask an adult to record the video – remembering to speak clearly into your pretend handset. Why not dress up in your best train uniform to make your announcement extra special?”

Sophia will help to judge the competition and three winners will each receive a #GWREnterTrainment prize pack including a jigsaw and set of Top Trumps.

GWR launched its #GWREnterTrainment package at the beginning of April, with activities including a build-a-train contest, design a special livery to thank the NHS, and a short-story competition.

GWR’s Head of Communications Dan Panes said:

“This Train Manager announcement competition is another way of helping parents keep their children #EnterTrained at home. We’ve had some fantastic entries for some of our other online competitions and I’ve got no doubt children will rise to the challenge again.”

GWR is asking customers to do all they can to follow social distancing guidance. As well as wearing a face covering, planning ahead and avoiding peak travel times where possible, customers are urged to buy tickets online, on a smart card or by using the GWR app.
