Last year, Falcom delivered my favorite ever Trails game. This year, a new chapter in the Trails series arrives and, for the first time since Cold Steel IV, I don't feel this is up to par for the standards Trails has set for itself. The combat is still a blast, but its hallmark storytelling is missing here. Understandably so due to a rushed development cycle, but still a bummer nonetheless.
